Pennies for Patients

Dundee Elementary students went above and beyond collecting coins for our "Pennies for Patients" fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Collection boxes were sent home with students in early March, and we counted all kinds of coins for the two weeks prior to Spring Break.  In those two weeks, we raised $1,195.43!  I only wished we would have weighed the coins before taking them in to West Coast Bank's counting machines.  They graciously counted each classroom separately so we could keep a runnng tally.  Miss Nelson's first grade class was our top winner for the primary grades, and Mrs. Smyth's fourth grade class took top honors for the secondary grades.  Each classroom will enjoy a pizza party, complements of Izzys!
