Congratulations Edwards - 2017 Summer Reading Winner

Newberg Public Library Unveils 2017 School Summer Reading Trophy Winners

The Newberg Public Library awarded its two summer reading trophies this week to schools with the highest percentage of students reading three weeks or more during the summer.

Edwards Elementary won the large-school honor and C.S. Lewis Academy will take home the small-school trophy. The trophies will remain at each school until the Summer Reading Program kicks off again in 2018.

“A school reading trophy fosters collaborative competition and engages schools with the library,” said Korie Buerkle, Children’s Librarian at Newberg Public Library. Overall, the Newberg Public Library registered more than 1,500 kids for the summer reading program. Kids read 24,591 days in all and completed hundreds of literacy activities.
