Eagle Leaders flying high

Newberg Oregon School District

Six Edwards Elementary School fifth grade students told the Newberg School Board that being selected to the Eagle Leadership Program was fantastic, rewarding, exciting, and well, fun. Counselor Sharon Smith and PE teacher Nic Coburn restructured the school leadership program to recognize students for being responsible, respectful and safe. Nearly 60 percent of the Edwards 5th grade class has earned and maintained their membership. Eagle Leaders assist in the office and library, read and listen to readers in the SMART program, serve as crossing guards and help kindergarten students develop math and reading skills. Proud parents looked on as Newberg School Board members recognized the students at the May 27, 2014 board meeting.
