Mabel Parents Update

January is a great month for learning and we're not wasting a minute! Last Thursday the staff actually commented about how focused all the students were and how much everyone got accomplished. One little 2nd grade boy said "my brain hurts!" What a great problem!

The weatherman says "snow" soon and I've learned not to count on it in Oregon. BUT, I want to be ready if it should happen:

* if we should ever close schools early ALL PARENTS will receive notice via our One Call phone calling system. Schools will not receive earlier notification -- once the decision is made by the district office, we will all be notified at the same time.
* if we should have a late start ALL PARENTS will receive notice via our One Call system and the media. All school programs would run exactly one/two/three hours later based on the decision. Thus, buses would come exactly one/two/three hours later, the doors to the school would open exactly one/two/three hours later, etc.
* on a Late Start Wednesday the late opening would not include an additional hour for traditional late start. Example: if it's a two hour late start, the building would open at 10:00 and school starts at 10:30.
* if your student should tell you that the "principal made it snow" -- believe them!! Ha! When snow is inevitable I've been known to gather the entire school at recess and teach them all the "snow dance" just before the flakes fall........... it's great fun and they're convinced I have great powers. Don't blow my cover!!

It's pretty yellow/green around here as we're all "ducks for a day." It feels like a holiday!
GO DUCKS.
