Hello Mabel Rush Parents!!
If you are no longer a Mabel Rush parent and seek to remove yourself from this list.serv please go to the school district website and it will guide you through the "remove" process. If you're still a Mabel Rush parent -- yeah!!
* We finished a great Supply Night and everyone left excited -- and I'm talking about the teachers!! It felt like a party as everyone was greeted by the Scouts and the Parent Group. Hopefully more students will now ride the bus on Tuesday morning because their supplies are already at school and they know where to find their classrooms. We'll meet buses the first day to ensure success.
* Our kindergarten and first grade class sizes grew quickly this week and the school district responded by allowing us to open up a K/1 classroom. It will be a standard AM kindergarten program and a complete 1st grade program. This should bring class size relief to both groups. If you are a first grade parent and have interest in your child being placed in this class, please contact the office immediately.
* We have also opened up a PM kindergarten program to lower class sizes. We are seeking volunteers to move from the AM class to the lower class sizes of the PM class. Again, please call the office immediately if you are able to move. Because kindergarten classrooms are still being moved around we have not mailed out orientation communication, but you will have it before the weekend -- we know this is late, but we need to move the students first. Please know:
September 6th: Kindergarten Curriculum Night for all Parents, 7:00pm
September 6th and 7th: Kindergarten small group student orientation, times vary -- see upcoming mailout
September 8th: First day for all kindergartners!! (AM class 8:30, PM class 12:20)
* Students will come home with a "First Day Packet" which will contain the menu, parent volunteer information, the school Handbook, etc. The most important piece to the office is that we quickly get returned your students corrected student contact information -- please correct phone numbers, emergency contacts, etc.
* The school district website is your source for details about bus routes. If you have further questions about buses, please call First Student at 503-538-8365
* The Parent Group is kicking off their year with great excitement. You will receive an Entertainment Book the first day for your purchasing consideration. Please send it back immediately if you don't intend to purchase. This group is also sponsoring their big Lion Walk Kick-Off the first week of school -- let the fun begin!!
It's going to be a Grrrrrreat (that's lion talk) school year!!
