Life is busy at Mabel Rush these days. We finally have all of the beginning of the year requirements behind us -- bus evacuation drills, pictures, earthquake drills, reading assessments, lockdown and fire drills, and we've got the daily routine underway!! Yeah. Here's a few highlights:
* the highly anticipated Kickball Finals occurred this week. The 5th grade teams of Angry Birds and Caution ended in a tie!!
* Robotics Club starts this week for 4th and 5th graders under the excellent leadership of Dale Ranum. He guides six students during a six-week session to programming Lego Robots that move, spin, and compete.
* Did you get a new i-Phone? WE WANT YOUR OLD ONE! Our Parent Group is collecting discarded i-Phones to refit for educational purposes. They will even provide a donation receipt for taxes.
* We are seeing more students every year that have life-threatening allergic reactions to nuts (nuts, nut oils, cross-contamination in processing). We now have a "nut free" lunch table at every lunch and seek parent support with our identified nut free classrooms.
* Teachers are now sending home conference times for either November 9th or 10th. If you have a conflict with your assigned time, please contact the office and we'll find a time that works for you. 503-554-4450
* Lastly, wear RED next Monday in support of National Red Ribbon Day -- a national focus on living a healthy drug-free lifestyle. Lani Schreiber and Tim Wright are using their class time this week teaching students the meaning of a healthy lifestyle. The entire school will be wearing RED, please join us!
