Mabel Parents Update

November is always incredibly busy -- even busier than December!! Here's a couple highlights:

* It's Conference Time! Teachers work hard to prepare for each student's individual conference to capture the most meaningful information to share with you during this short amount of time together. Please know that you are invited to share anything that you believe would contribute to classroom success, and of course, please ask questions! This is an important meeting for all of us.
* The Book Fair is here! Students can purchase books BEFORE school and AFTER school next week. The Book Fair will be open during Conferences for your "shopping pleasure." We are currently in need of volunteers to work the Book Fair -- please contact Rhonda Comus if you can volunteer an hour or two -- roncomus@hotmail.com
* November begins the "head lice season." We haven't seen much yet, so please remain on top of regular head checks and let us know if it should occur so we can check others.
* Tuesday we will host our local Veteran's for a quick assembly to honor them and teach students what a Veteran is and why there is no school on Friday. If you can join us, our assembly will be at 10:45.
* The Student Council is sponsoring their first dress-up day on the 18th. It's the first time we've ever done "Nerd Day" -- time to find some band-aids for your glasses and a pocket protector or two.
* Lastly, our very successful annual Civil War Canned Food Drive will fill the lobby with food for the needy. Feel free to send cans (and any non-perishable) to school Nov. 21, 22, 23. The cans will be donated to FISH for local holiday baskets. The winner of the Civil War Canned Food drive has typically not won the game -- we'll see!
