Mabel Parents Update

It's daffodils, snow, sunglasses, and rain this weekend -- must be March!

Tomorrow evening (Thursday) is K-2 Family Math Night at Mabel Rush. GFU students will be here to provide math games and experiences for full family participation! Plan to join us for the math fun in the library from 7:00-7:45

It's Classified Employee Week! If you have a favorite cook, secretary, crossing guard, classroom assistant, janitor, librarian, or playground staff this would be a great week to send them a warm thank you. The classrooms have been "loving them up" all week, the teachers are serving them lunch tomorrow, and their desks have flowers, hot chocolate, and cards -- it's such fun to spoil good people.

Our Parent Coffee will be Friday morning this week at 9:00. Come join the group with your questions, ideas, or just to enjoy the conversation.

Wow, Mabel Rush parents contributed 12 cases of paper during our recent paper drive. Again, WOW. Thank you for helping us save our tight budget for the purchase of items that have recently been cut from the budget. Thank you Summer Neiss and Jeanne Schuback or your leadership. Another big thank you to Starlitt Bachand who delivered MANY boxes of office supplies from her employer for teacher enjoyment -- there were screams of delight over colored paper and large binding clips .... we're so easy to please!

This month's character trait is "Courage." The teaching team used the clip from The Wizard of Oz to highlight the lion (Maru?) getting his medal of courage. We define courage as "being brave enough to make the right decision." Please join us in finding ways to support students to find the courage and/or take the risks to do the right thing. Next week they will learn that they can come to the office to get their "medal" (paper, but a metal) if they believe they encountered a situation where they demonstrated personal courage.

Thursday, March 15th, GFU students will be here to host a Poetry Night for 2nd-5th graders in the library from 7:00-7:45. We have never done this before but we're always eager to support our young writers and encourage the love of poetry. A flyer will be sent home with the details soon.

Remember to spring forward this weekend! I'll warn you, students are always tired on Tuesday (that's when it catches up to them!)
