Mabel Parents Update

Yes, it's the first day of Spring and I understand there is snow in the forecast -- keeps us flexible! Here's a quick update on the first day of Spring:

A huge THANK YOU to our Cub Scouts (some of which became Boy Scouts tonight!) who cleaned up the landscaping around the "Mabel Rush Elementary School" sign in the front of the building and added beautiful plants for all of us to enjoy. We love our Scouts.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) is Kindergarten Registration from 3:30-6:00. We hope to meet all of the local kindergarteners who will be five on or before September 1st. They are a tougher group to reach so if you know of someone in your neighborhood please encourage them to drop by and register. If they can't make it tomorrow they can register at any time -- the earlier the better for our planning.
The Student Council is sponsoring our first Hawaiian Day on Friday. They can come up with some different ideas, but at least this one can consist of shorts, sunglasses, and sunscreen on your nose -- I can do that!! The Student Council will be around to tell the kids all about it and posters go up in the halls tomorrow.
THANKS parents for your paper contributions! We collected 12 cases of copy paper and then there was $50 in cash that the Parent Group will use to order more paper. THANKS so much for helping our budget stretch it's way through the year. I know already that we've sent teacher microphones in for repair, ordered two spendy projector bulbs, and are repairing a classroom map -- all because we could get it done now without waiting for the new budget year. Many thanks.
Have a great Spring Break with your children. It will be April when we return to school ......... wow, it goes quick.
