Mabel Parents Update

Greetings from Mabel Rush!

If you have driven by the school you can tell we are fully under construction!  The Alternative Education building next door is now gone, the south playground has been dismantled, the north playground is being prepared to receive that equipment as well as an additional covered area, and the busiest place is the new kitchen being wedged between the cafeteria and gym.  We're running about two weeks behind schedule so plans are underway to serve lunches just like we did at the end of the year and we were just informed that we'll have a week or two of alternative recess fun.  We'll be ready!

The school office will open on Monday!  At this moment we still don't have phones, internet access, air conditioning, etc. but supposedly we will have communication come Monday.  At least we can open the doors to begin the registration process.  Please let your new neighbors know that we are open for enrollment.

Lani Schreiber has resigned her counseling position to return to her roots -- Coos Bay.  She's accepted a position working in the same school she attended in her youth.  You will love our new counselor, Stephanie Graupmann.  Ms. Graupmann taught 4th/5th grade for six years in Arizona, taught in China, speaks Spanish, and is now a licensed counselor with a high-energy focus on kids.  Stop by and welcome her to Mabel Rush.

School starts Tuesday, September 4th for grades 1-5 and Thursday, September 6th for kindergartners (orientation will occur in small groups the two days prior).  New students and kindergartners will receive teacher placement letters once teachers return the last week of August.
