Hopefully your turkey lasted longer than ours .............. next year I'm going to make two just so there is leftovers!! Here's the latest news:
We have officially brought our character trait of respect to an end and start with the K-2's in the morning teaching the trait of responsibility. The following week the 3rd-5th graders will get the same concept slightly adapted to their level. We'll focus on this trait until January.
Many have asked about the outcome of the Civil War Canned Food Drive because it wasn't evident by looking at the piles who won. It's official .............. the ducks won the game, but the Beavers won the canned food drive. Not only did they have more cans, their cans weighed 300 pounds more than the ducks. All this fun to create holiday baskets for local families.
Speaking of holiday baskets -- the Christmas tree is up in the lobby and next week the counselor will go room-to-room to explain how this tree will become our Giving Tree. We have a fun change of routine this year. Unadorned ornaments with food items printed on the back will be available Dec. 3-12 in the lobby. WITH PARENT PERMISSION a student could take one ornament and bring both the food and the ornament back to school. Students are invited to decorate the ornament and place it on the tree as they place the food item under the tree -- thus our tree will grow in decorative ornaments this year. The food is used to create planned quality baskets for Mabel Rush families. The staff eagerly supplement the baskets with family gifts.
THANK YOU Tiffanie Olea and your workhorse team for creating a positive and enjoyable holiday bazaar. How did I spend $62 so quickly?? We have the perfect facility and excellent organizational base to grow this into the largest and nicest bazaar in the community.
Need to work off some Thanksgiving calories? Let's DANCE! Summer Neiss has organized a fun family event this Friday evening from 6:30-8:30. Contact Summer at summer.neiss@gmail.com if you can help out. Here's the details she provided:
it's free!
water and glow bracelets will be available for sale -- she could use some parent help in 15 minute shifts working the sales table
costumes are encouraged, but not mandatory -- no full-faced masks or anything overly scary or gory
parents must be present with their children -- open to all families and siblings
THANK YOU to Stefan Panson for organizing a wonderful dinner for Mabel Rush staff during conferences. We don't know the specific amazing cooks to credit, but there were incredible homemade soups, salads, desserts, and breads and the staff truly thanks these families for a warm and friendly dinner break. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm. The crockpots are located in Parent Group room.
We have four full weeks of quality instruction until the winter break. Believe it or not, December is a huge academic growth month for students -- it is the entrenched routines and student readiness for the increased teaching pace that occurs right now. We don't often have four weeks so we're ready to take advantage of this time and focus! You can also count on us to find time for the holiday fun!
