What is Community Rewards?
"It is the latest addition to the Fred Meyer Rewards Program where you can earn donations for your favorite nonprofit just by shopping with your Rewards Card. Fred Meyer will donate $2.5 million to nonprofits in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington in 2014 through this new program. Here's how it works:
Link your Rewards Card to your favorite nonprofit at www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards.
Whenever you use your Rewards card when shopping at Freddy's, you’ll be helping the nonprofit linked to your Rewards Card to earn a donation from Fred Meyer.
At the end of each quarter, Fred Meyer will make a donation to participating nonprofits based on the accumulated spending of the Rewards customers linked to each nonprofit.
Fred Meyer will donate $625,000 each quarter via Community Rewards!

English Language Learner Conference
In March I will be taking a team of teachers to a conference to further our work towards improving student achievement for our English Language Learners here at Mabel Rush. I look forward to the results of collaboration between our team and other teams from across the state after hearing from distinguished state and national presenters. The information gained at this conference will be shared with all teachers at Mabel Rush following the conference. Our goal is to improve education for all our students through using the best instructional strategies and materials available to us.
New Family Folder
Our Mabel Rush Site Council is working with our PIE group to create a New Family Folder to present to families when they join our school community. The folder will feature how to access school information, community organizations (including athletics, scouts, etc.), and contact information for our PIE group to help families connect with other families in our community. Draft versions of it will be presented at our March Site Council and PIE meetings with the idea that we will roll out the first version in April, make adjustments as needed, and then roll out the final version next fall.
George Fox University Family Math Night
Families with children in grades K-2 are invited to join us for a family math night in our Mabel Rush Library at 6:30 PM on Thursday, February 27. This event will be presented by George Fox University students and staff.
Mabel Rush Spring Carnival
Remember the date for our upcoming parent group (PIE) sponsored carnival on March 15th from 4-7 pm. Many games, lots of food and extreme fun! Wristbands will be on sale soon. Look for a flyer to come home with the students at the end of the month!
