Mabel Rush student tops in "If I were Mayor..." contest
Mabel Rush student Mayi Nadora is the first place winner in the Newberg “If I were Mayor” poster contest for elementary school students. Mayor Bob Andrews announced the winners at an April 16th City Council meeting.
The poster contest drew 16 entries this year, all came from a single class at Mabel Rush Elementary School.
First place in that category went to Mayi Nadora, second place to Elise Lam and third place to Audrey Palmer. The entries were judged by a panel made up of Andrews and five other members of the community.
Each winner earned a U.S. EE Savings Bond and a $20 gift certificate to the Chehalem Paddle Launch.
