Mabel Rush students recognized at Rip City Assembly

Members of the Portland Trail Blazer organization made a stop at Mabel Rush Elementary School last Friday to recognize ten students and a staff member who display the qualities of perseverance and excellence. The Mabel Rush stop was part of the Rip City Relay, a 219 mile trek that began in Coos Bay and ended at center court at the Moda Center in Portland last Saturday. The students received team jerseys from Blaze, the Trail Blazer mascot and teachers engages in races on oversized tricycles. Principal Lisa Callahan was presented with the game ball, which is on display in the Mabel Rush lobby.

Students recognized at the assembly include Tyler Hardinger, Evie Palmer, Madelyn Morse, Reese Gutierrez, Saul Capell, Aidan Rodriguez, Gavin Russell, Sophia Carleton, Kyndra Davidson and Chris Davis 

Cynthia Burton, teacher in the Intensive Learning Center, was also recognized for perseverance and excellence.
