Rockets test Newton's Laws of Motion

Newberg Oregon School District

Students in Ken Froescher's 5th grade class at Mabel Rush use the scientific inquiry method to test what size of fins are optimal for the longest distance traveled in the air.  The students observed Newton's laws of motion first hand and discussed the difference between fins and wings.  Rockets flew between 50 and an estimated 400 feet! Students are amazed at how far something can fly with water and air pressure.
