Weekly What's Up?

In recent weeks Mabel Rush fourth graders have been learning about local native people.  Professor Beckham of Lewis & Clark College, who specializes in natives from our area, will soon be visiting the classrooms.  The traditional native Potlatch, a fall feast, was celebrated on October 28th with gift exchanges, songs, stories, and drumming.  Mrs. Young’s class is studying the survival systems of various animals and learning their life cycles.  Students are writing poetry and studying Oregon regions.  Mrs. Passmore’s class is studying kinetic and potential energy in all the different forms: light, heat, electrical, chemical, sound, and mechanical.  Students are learning how energy transforms.  Students are designing windmills in a virtual lab.  Soon students will be building circuits, testing insulators and conductors, and building parallel and series circuits.
