November PTO Events and Updates

1)  Halloween Candy Turn-In:  Thanks for your contributions!  We turned in almost 100 lbs of candy and earned $330 for Crater students!

2)  All-Star Book Fair:  "Every Reader is a Star"
Come show your Star Power by visiting the Book Fair on 11/16 and 11/19 ... and it's a great kick-off to your holiday shopping, too!  Book Fair Flyers are going home this week with a sampling of books at the Fair.

November 16
8:00-8:30 a.m. - Student Shopping before School
3:00-5:00 p.m. - Family Shopping after School
5:00-7:00 p.m. - Pajama Night!  Shop in your jammies or robe and enter to win a plush throw blanket!  A mini-craft will be available for students and younger siblings to create that evening, too.

November 19
Noon-7:00 p.m. - Open all day!  Shop anytime or before/after conferences.

Crater's ONLINE BOOK FAIR ~ with extended titles ~ is open 11/12-12/2 with FREE SHIPPING TO THE SCHOOL by 12/14.  More details and the online fair link are on our Scholastic webpage:

3)  Staff Appreciation Dinner with Mr. Potato Head
The staff will take a dinner break during Parent Conferences on 11/19 -- and a warm meal is just what they need.  Are you available to help with the baking potatoes or bringing in condiments for the potato bar?  How about stirring up a crock pot of chili or a dessert?  If you would like to prepare food or donate groceries for the Staff Dinner, please contact Dinner Coordinator, Christine Birch, at rochrib99@gmail.com or leave a message for her at the school office:  503-554-4650.  We also need helpers to set up, 4-5 p.m., and clean up, 5:45-6:30 p.m.

4)  Volunteers Needed ~ 1st Grade Vision Screening
Crater needs 6 volunteers on 11/27 at 8:45 a.m. to assist with vision screenings.  Can you help?  Please call Kim Peck in the school office at 503-554-4650.

5)  PTO Cougar Club Meetings

6)  Newberg School Board Budget Committee Opening
The Newberg School Board Budget Committee needs a parent in Zone 6 (includes Crater families) to be a part of the committee for a short period early next year, attending a monthly meeting from January - April 2013.  Please contact School Board Member Mitsi Vondrachek at mitsivondrachek@gmail.com or 503-538-4241 if you have questions or an interest in helping out the committee.
