Criteria For Presidential , Principal, and Citzenship Awards

The following awards are given to 8th graders. Criteria for candidacy is, but not limited to:

Presidential Excellence Award:
-3.5 cumulative GPA over entire middle school career
-Exceeding score on Math and Reading state assessments
-Displaying “integrity” and “exceptional judgment” resulting in Zero Behavior Referrals this school year
-95% percent attendance (no more than 10 days absent this school year)

Presidential Achievement Award:
-3.5 cumulative GPA over entire middle school career
- Must meet in Reading and Math state assessments while exceeding in one out of the two assessments. (For example: Reading-241 Exceeds, Math- 234 Meets)
-Displaying “integrity” and “exceptional judgment” resulting in Zero Behavior Referrals this school year
-95% percent attendance (no more than 10 days absent this school year)
-Staff members can nominate students to receive the award if the student “would have met the school’s selection criteria for the President’s Award for Educational Excellence but illness, personal crisis, or special needs prevented the student from maintaining such high standards despite hard work.”

American Citizenship Award:
-Zero Behavior Referrals this year
-95% percent attendance percentage (no more than 10 days absent this school year)
-Teacher Recommendation
-Being safe, respectful and responsible
-Work Ethic
-“The American Citizenship Award s designed to recognize students who consistently exhibit the kinds of behaviors we want to see displayed in our schools and in our communities.”

Principal Awards
-3.5 or higher GPA over entire middle school career
-4.0 GPA over entire middle school career
-Perfect attendance this school year
-Perfect attendance over entire middle school career
