CV practices Lock Down procedures

This morning, December 10th,  CVMS practiced a lockdown drill during first period. Students and staff followed the safety protocols utilized in Newberg School District by locking interior doors, turning off lights and moving to a location in the classroom out of sight of interior windows. In this protocol, we use the phrases “Locks,” “Lights,” “Out of Sight” to indicate the actions to follow in an emergency situation.

We actively partner with local law enforcement to review safety procedures and improve our response time in our drills. Today, we were fortunate to have officers from the NDPD in our building to assist in the drill and to debrief observations and make suggestions for improvement with our administrative team.  It is this kind of community partnership that helps keep our schools safe and our staff prepared for emergency situations.

If you have any questions or concerns about today’s lockdown drill, please Casey or I via e-mail or phone. We’d be happy to spend some time discussing our safety protocols.
