CV Science classes down on the Farm

Newberg Oregon School District

Lake Labish Farms near Brooks, OR.
Our 6th grade Science classes spent the day there last Friday  learning about growing the onions and premium hay that are sent to Korea and Japan.
We learned onions are high in Vitamin C, second only to Citrus and are full of calcium.  In fact it is the calcium in the onion that makes it hard enough to store over the winter.  This trip was part of The "Adopt a Farmer" outreach of the Agribusiness Council of Oregon .  We look forward to seeing our farmer, Ryan Bennett, when he comes to do classroom  visits during the year.
