CV Students future meteorologists?

CV has become a weather station!  Science teacher Bruce Carvalho found a way to incorporate a weather station to spark interest about weather beyond Newberg in his Science classes. He reports, "Students daily enter my classroom and ask "Where is current extreme weather an issue?" They are excited to be in a classroom that welcomes all students regardless of background or culture. Many come shouting at my iPhone: "Hey Siri, what's the weather in Egypt?"
Mr. Carvalho received a grant from our local AM Rotary and combined with several parent contributions, was able to get a weather station to put on the roof here at CV.  By having a wireless weather station and data display software, our students will enjoy the experience of being a location that will provide weather reports locally as well as globally! As students complete studies in humanities related to Egypt, for example, they will connect with other schools worldwide to discuss weather and water resources with them. Our students will maintain a school-based weather site to provide daily and weekly weather reports to students throughout the community, but also to connect with professional meteorologists as a part of our STEM program goals.

Students will enjoy learning about both water and weather real-time while completing a number of activities surrounding water and weather. These include: using electronic data gathering devices, creating brochures and developing cross-curricular student-generated websites promoting clean water, bringing attention to areas that are susceptible to extreme weather, such as desert and third world countries."
