PRINCIPAL'S CORNER by Karen Pugsley, Principal CVMS
We are almost to the end of the 2015-16 academic year – with one more week of school to go before summer break. Next week, we have an action packed calendar, with almost daily activities and celebrations, culminating in our 8th grade promotion on Friday morning from 8:30-10 in our gym. As we spring to the finish line, we are also wrapping up some wonderful school projects, including an amazing Art fundraiser led by Maggie Johnson’s art students. The fused glass project they worked on over the last few weeks has resulted in a substantial donation to the YCAP food bank. Today, the students and Mrs. Johnson presented YCAP with a check for $2409 from their jewelry sale. I was so proud of our students and staff for the hard work, artistic expression and heart for giving back to our community. At times, we forget how powerful this kind of project is for our students and the lifelong lessons they learn in the process. When they presented the check to YCAP today, I could see their excitement, pride and genuine connection to the project. The donation was a record for a Yamhill County middle school. What a powerful testament to our school’s commitment to community service and relevant, real world connections. Congratulations to Maggie and her students for their thoughtful gift- a gift that will help YCAP provide over 8,000 meals to people in need in our county!

Monday
Regular schedule
Pack leader activity in 7th period (2:15-2:45). Students get ice cream and yearbooks
Tuesday
Regular schedule
Yearbooks distribute period 1 (if purchased and fines cleared)
Lockers cleaned out
Wednesday
6/7th grade - regular schedule Per. 1 - Per 4, Carnival from 12:30-2:45
8th grade - 1st period for attendance, Camp Yamhill 9:00 - 2:30
All student not eligible to attend due to referrals will be in study hall during end of year activities.
Thursday
Regular Schedule
Friday
6/7th grade - modified 1/2 day schedule, 10:30-11:00 lunch, 11:00 release
8th grade - Promotion Ceremony 8:30-10:00
8th grade students can go home with parents/guardians after the ceremony or can stay through 11:00 dismissal.
SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS
CPRD/Senior Center
We have an ongoing and expanding partnership with CPRD – from middle level sports to a new partnership with the Senior Center - Sawdust Club. Every Thursday after school, a group of elder woodworkers from the Senior Center host an open workshop in the woodshop at CVMS after school. Call CPRD for more details.

We’ve had a great year with our CV Parent Group. Look for more information on how you can become involved for next year!
