Happy Friday to All of You!
Parent Conferences
Thank you to all of you that were able to attend conferences last night. We were more strategic with our conferences this time around inviting parents of students that were struggling with one F or more.
If you were not able to come to conferences but would like to meet with a teacher or teachers please do not hesitate to call the counseling office at 503-554-4607 or email the teacher.
4th Quarter
Grades will start over this 4th quarter. At the end of the quarter your students' grades will be an AVERAGE of the 3rd and 4th quarter grades.
Neon Dance
We will be holding a Neon Spring dance tonight in support of our PBIS program. This dance is strictly a CVMS dance and will be from 7-9 PM. Only students that meet the criteria of no referrals and less than 4 tardies for the 3rd quarter will be allowed to attend. Thank you to Kelly Ceder and Leadership for doing such a great job with the organization.
Crater PTO
On Monday I will be attending the Crater PTO meeting. The meeting starts at 6:30 PM. If you are a Crater parent of a 5th grade student hopefully I will see you there to answer any questions you may have!
2nd Round of Math State Testing
Next week we will begin our 2nd round of math state testing. Testing will encompass all of April and we are excited to see how our students perform. Our kids and teachers have been working very hard!
2nd Round of Reading Testing
We are almost finished with our 2nd round of reading testing. The results so far are as follows. The 3rd round will begin at the end of the month. The teachers and students have been working very hard. Thus far we are above the state averages at all grades...nice job CVMS.
CVMS; State Average
6th grade-78% of students have met or exceeded the reading test; State of Oregon 6th grade-73% of students met/exceeded
7th grade-87% of students have met or exceeded the reading test; State of Oregon 7th grade-75% of students met/exceeded
8th grade-73% of students have met or exceeded the reading test; State of Oregon 8th grade-65% of students met/exceeded
Wadayama
On Monday the school board of directors met to discuss the Wadayama trip scheduled this May. Due to the recent events taking place in Japan with the earthquakes, tsunami and potential radioactive leaks the decision was made to cancel the trip. I talked personally with the parents of the students and all were very supportive of the decision. The students, although disappointed, understood the decision. I want to thank the students for their hard work in preparation for the trip as well as the staff that were to accompany them. The students from Wadayama are set to visit us again in September.
