Mr. Franco and a student

Happy Friday to All of You!

State Report Cards
Your student(s) will be bringing home our school's state report cards. The report cards are strictly for your information. You will be able to see how we rank in reading, math and science in comparison to schools across the state. After looking at the report card you will find that last year we surpassed the state average in the three core subjects. We also passed the averages in reading and math in the "comparison" schools category (i.e. schools with similar student body populations). We still have a lot of work to do, but we need to take time to celebrate the accomplishments from last year.

Toys for Joy Drive
It is amazing what our kids and families are doing. As of now our front office table is filled with toys. Thank you to all who donated. The Newberg Fire Department will be on campus Monday to collect the toys and to also take pictures.
Cheyenne Jacques, 7th grader, collected 30 toys after asking her neighbors to help! Wow!

Winter Semi-Formal
Our first CVMS dance will be held tonight from 7:00-9:00 PM in the CVMS gymnasium. The cost is $5.00 per person and/or 15 Wolf Bucks. All school rules will apply and any student violating the dress code will not be admitted. Leadership class has been working hard organizing and decorating. We are all excited to see the kids dressed up!

Cell Phone Drive
After you or your student(s) get new cell phones don't be afraid to bring your old ones into the office. We are collecting old cell phones to utilize as a fundraiser for our Wadayama exchange program. You can bring them in anytime!

-In the classrooms:
Diane Williams:Students were giving presentations on Egypt. It was a lot of fun. Students had props, but what impressed me was the positive and supportive nature of the feedback from the rest of the students after each presentation.
Wendy Halstead: Students were introduced to the Millennium Project. Wendy did a nice job of "hooking" the kids with a CD and visuals of various quotes from famous and infamous people.
Sarah Goehler: Students were working on slope. It was exciting to see the pace and questioning within the classroom.
Simone Conley: Simone's kids were doing multiple things. Kids were up at the board and at their desks working on decimal multiplication while others were utilizing their problem solving skills on the lap tops. The kids were working!
Teresa Conway (Life Skills): I am truly amazed at what her and her aides do on a daily basis. It is also fun to interact with her kids.

Have a great weekend!
