Happy Friday to All of You!
Staff Appreciation Week
Thank you to all of the parents who graciously cooked and/or baked goodies for our staff on Wednesday in celebration of staff appreciation week and to our PTO for organizing the Wednesday potluck. It was unbelievable the amount of food. Thank you
as well to Mrs.Ceder and our Leadership students for the breakfast treats and raffles given out to staff everyday this week. And thank you to our staff for all of your hard work in making CV a great place to be.
Paper
If you have any spare reams of paper lying around or if you are willing to purchase some for us we would greatly appreciate it. We have just ordered our last shipment and staff members have been told to only print what is absolutely necessary. Any little bit will help!

School Bond Information
School measure on the May 17 ballot
Bond measure
Newberg Public Schools are asking voters to approve a $27.1 million bond to repair schools facilities, replace inefficient energy systems and update and equip classrooms. The measure would cost taxpayers less than what they are currently paying due to a bond retiring. In addition, Newberg School district taxpayers would save $4 million in interest costs because the district was awarded federal stimulus funds that would pay all the interest on $15 million of the bonds. Bond information is on the school district website at www.newberg.k12.or.us/district/bond-information.
Q. What happens if the school bond doesn’t pass?
A. The current general fund budget would not be able to support the major repairs, textbooks and technology replacements purchases identified in the bond. The district would still needs to reduce the 2011-12 budget by $700,000, which is equivalent to 12 teachers or six days of school.
Q. Would taxpayers pay on both the retiring bond and the new bond at the same time?
A. No. The new bond would replace the retiring bond. Taxpayers would not pay on both the new and retiring bond at the same time. Costs for the new bond are less than the retiring bond, which reduces the cost to property owners by 85¢ per thousand dollars of assessed value.
Q. When will I get my ballot?
A. Ballots will be mailed from the Yamhill County Clerk’s office on April 29th and should arrive at households between April 30 – May 3. Clackamas and Washington County residents may have already received their ballots.
