Mr. Franco in his office

Happy Thursday to All of You!

Parent Conferences
We had two successful parent conference days.

Thank you to the staff for their efforts the past two days and to the parents for coming out. If you were unable to make conferences please continue to check Ed-line. If you would like a meeting with a teacher or teachers please call the counseling office or email the teachers directly.

Absences
Please be cognizant that we are extremely vigilant in regards to attendance. The following is the list of reasons the state provides as excusable absences:
-Student illness
-Illness of an immediate family member
-Emergency
-Doctor/Dental Appointment
-Death of an immediate family member
-Court summons
-Satisfactory arrangements, made in advance with the school for other reasons

Last year our attendance was close to 95%. We are looking to surpass this percentage this year. Our attendance for the month of October was 96%. Great job!

Parent Volunteers
If you are looking to volunteer for the school please contact Mary Reohr at reohrm@newberg.k12.or.us. We currently have volunteer opportunities in our after school homework club, and in our classrooms.

Google Apps Permission Form
Google Apps for Education are what we have transitioned to regarding word processing, calendars, email, etc. If you want your student(s) to have access to these assets, please approve and return the permission form on this coming Monday(11/14). Permission forms were sent home with your students on Monday(11/7). Thank you!

End of the 1st nine weeks
The 2nd nine weeks begins on Monday(11/14). Students will be starting over in regards to grades. In February, 1st and 2nd quarter grades will be averaged in compiling 1st semester grades.
By the end of next week we will be sending home grades with the students. We will not be mailing them home.
