Happy Friday to All of You!
Parent Conferences
The end of the quarter will fall on Tuesday November 8th.
Parent Conferences will be November 8th from 4-8 PM in the Commons. We will continue with parent conferences on November 9th from 12-3:30 PM and 4-8 PM in the teacher classrooms. Please continue to check Ed-line noting your student's progress.
Absences
Please be cognizant that we are extremely vigilant in regards to attendance. The following is the list of reasons the state provides as excusable absences:
-Student illness
-Illness of an immediate family member
-Emergency
-Doctor/Dental Appointment
-Death of an immediate family member
-Court summons
-Satisfactory arrangements, made in advance with the school for other reasons
Last year our attendance was close to 95%. We are looking to surpass this percentage in the coming year. Our attendance for the month of October was 96%. Great job!
Parent Volunteers
If you are looking to volunteer for the school please contact Mary Reohr at reohrm@newberg.k12.or.us. We currently have volunteer opportunities in our after school homework club, and in our classrooms.
Spirit Week
We had a great week of school, with many students and staff showing school spirit. The kids showed an incredible amount of participation and their behavior was outstanding, probably the best since I have been here. Thank you to Kelly Ceder and Leadership class for organizing the days and the fun lunch time activities!

Google Apps Permission Form
On Monday your student(s) will be receiving Google Apps permission forms that they will be bringing home for parents to sign. We are expecting these forms back on Tuesday, the 8th. Google Apps for Education are what we have transitioned to regarding word processing, calendars, email, etc. If you want your student(s) to have access to these assets please approve and return the permission form on Tuesday. Thank you!
Forms are also online: http://www.newberg.k12.or.us/district/google-apps-education
CV State Report Card
Attached is a link to our state report card. Our students and staff have done a great job. If you compare how the kids performed the past two years with the previous years you will see that our achievement is the highest it has ever been. In reading 85% of our students met/exceeded the state assessment. In math, 70% (85% based on the old achievement standards) of our students met/exceeded the state assessment despite the increase in achievement standards. I want to recognize the great work that our students and staff have been doing.
