Assessment Day

Joan Austin Elementary students in grades 1 through 5 will attend school from 8:30AM to 1PM on Assessment Day, Monday, Sept. 22. Busing will be available on that day. Kindergarten hours will remain the same, 8:30am to 11:35am. 

This year we are dedicating a single school day, Monday, September 22nd, to conduct assessments in reading, language arts, writing and mathematics. These are assessments that teachers will conduct one-on-one and in small groups. This will provide teachers with quality information about each student’s strengths and weaknesses so that they can plan appropriate instruction. By administering all assessments on one day, we will free up classroom instructional time.
