Welcome to Joan Austin Elementary School

We look forward to seeing everyone in September. The following are some important dates as we plan for the beginning of the 2010/11 school year.

ALL SCHOOL ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Meet your teacher, see the classroom and enjoy some ice cream with us on September 2nd from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION
Orientation for all Kindergarten students will take place on Tuesday, September 7th and Wednesday, September 8th. There will be both morning and afternoon sessions. Parents will be notified in August of your child's orientation time.

FIRST DAY FOR KINDERGARTEN
The first day of school for all Kindergarten students will be Thursday, September 9th.

FIRST DAY FOR 1ST - 5TH GRADE
The first day of school for all students, 1st through 5th grade will be Tuesday, September 7th.

SCHOOL HOURS

Grades 1 - 5
Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri - 8:30 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.
** Wednesday Only - 9:30 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.

Morning Kindergarten
Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri - 8:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
** Wednesday Only - 9:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Afternoon Kindergarten
Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri - 12:25 p.m. - 3:10 p.m.
** Wednesday Only - 12:55 - 3:10 p.m.

**Late Start Wednesday. Every Wednesday school starts one hour later than usual. School begins at 9:30 a.m. every Wednesday (except the last Wednesday of the school year). If possible, please have students arrive at school between 9:00 and 9:20 a.m. If your student needs to arrive at the usual time, there will be supervision available after 8:00 a.m.

ALL FAMILY BARBEQUE
Plan now to attend our school barbeque on Friday, September 17th. More information will be sent home in September.
