3rd grade partnering with GFU and CODE.org

Students in 3rd grade have been partnering with GFU and CODE.org in an introductory computer programing unit using Scratch as the computer language. Students are introduced to computer science language through instruction and interaction. They then apply it on the CODE.org site and write algorithms. Once the "Run" button is clicked, students are able to see if their algorithm is correct or should be altered to achieve the set goal. Over the ten weeks, students will learn to write and manipulate computer code and be introduced to the world of computer science, the magic behind the screen.
