GREETINGS, EWING YOUNG!
My name is Ron Hampton, and I am the School Counselor at Ewing Young Elementary. Though I started out my career as a teacher, I was most drawn to helping students to communicate well, to feel safe and empowered as learners, and to navigate the challenges of school in general. I received a masters degree in Counseling at George Fox University, and have been supporting students and families as a school counselor for the last 20+ years. I love rock climbing and hiking with friends, and am constantly reminding myself that my best moments come after doing something hard.
WHAT DOES THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR DO?
As a school counselor, I help provide various interventions through:
- Whole group classroom Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
- Small Groups
- Individual Counseling
- Parent/Teacher Consultation & Outside Counseling Referrals
