Mr. Milner's Friday Message

Dear Ewing Young Parents-

We are now officially moving into the 2015 Holiday Season with Thanksgiving now on the horizon.  Next week, we will miss not having students at school, however, teachers will be busy on Monday and Tuesday, learning and collaborating together around school and district initiatives.

On Monday, staff will start the morning participating in a poverty simulation.  This will be a unique learning experience as staff will role play a fictitious person and experience their life as they navigate the challenges associated with poverty.  Staff will learn the impacts of poverty as it relates to our students, families and schools.  In the afternoon, we will be doing some professional development that focuses on one of our school goals: stating claims and justifying the claim with evidence.  Our students are doing some very high-level work, and staff will learn the specifics, along with strategies to support students in the classroom.

We wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.  For me, I'm excited to have both of my daughters home and look forward to spending as much time as I can with each of them.

Thank you for the support you provide our staff and students - Happy Holidays!
