Mr. Milner's Friday Message 11/18/2016

Happy Thanksgiving EY Parents:

It has most certainly been busy here at school during the past few days.  I'll highlight a few of the happenings to keep you updated.

3rd Grade Totem Pole:  Our 3rd graders experienced an artistic extension to the learning they have been doing in reading.  On Wednesday, led by our staff artist and first grade teacher, Mrs. Johnston, they created an amazing totem pole on a pillar that sits outside the office.  They did a great job and their creation certainly makes our entry even more unique.

4th and 5th Grade Package Designing:  Our 4th and 5th grade students are working to design a plant package as a part of their STEM learning.  To make this experience even more enriching, the students have collaborated with a packaging engineer in Los Angeles, and will be sending their plant package to be engineered and sent back to them.  We thank Tripaq Packaging in Los Angeles for their support of our student's learning.

Ewing Young Elementary will be tested for Radon during the week of Nov. 30-December 1.  Cascade Environmental will begin placement of Radon test kits throughout all ground level rooms that are occupied on a regular basis such as classrooms, offices, lunch rooms, gym, kitchen and dining areas. This test kits will remain in place through November 30th and will be picked up the morning of December 1st. The kits will be sent into the lab for testing and results. Once the results are reported back to the district they will be shared with staff and parents.

I hope you and your family have a very safe and joyous Thanksgiving.  I am looking forward to this bonus time with my family, and hope to spend some quality time with my daughters.  Kids grow up fast, so take advantage of this special time.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
