Mr. Milner's Friday Message 9/16/2016

Happy Friday Ewing Young Parents-

Week number two of school flew by, and after a few schedule adjustments, it's looking like regular school is in full motion.  It's been great to see how students are incorporating their digital devices into their school day.

This week, we practiced three important drills: fire, earthquake and lockdown.  We will continue to practice these throughout the school year in order to keep these important procedures in mind as we move forward.

Some reminders for the week ahead:

Assessment Day - Monday, September 19th is our annual district "Assessment Day".  Students will be dismissed at 1:00pm to allow teachers time to score writing and to analyze all of the data from the students’ assessments.

BUSES WILL BE HERE TO TAKE STUDENTS HOME AT 1:00PM AND WILL NOT BE RETURNING AT 3:10PM

PARENTS WILL NEED TO PICK UP THEIR CHILD IF THEY ARE STAYING UNTIL THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY. If you child is enrolled in the CARE program, they will be released to care at this time.

In order to help us plan ahead, please let office staff know if your child will be staying until the end of the day, 3:10pm. If we do not hear from you, we will follow the regular transportation plan.

Open House, Thursday Sept. 22nd, 6:00 PM - Teachers will be formally presenting to parents all the details about their classroom, as well as showing them curriculum and addressing questions.  Students are welcome to attend (ages 4 and older), and we have a special event in place for them (with supervision) as parents meet with teachers.

Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences Coming Up:  Teachers will be conferencing with parents during the week of October 3rd.  Thursday (10/6) and Friday (10/7) are No School days because of this.  We will have sign-ups for parents at Open House on Thursday evening.

I look forward to seeing parents at our Open House.  I hope we can get 100% attendance and start the school year off working together to support your child.

Enjoy the weekend and thanks for all the support you provide our staff and students.
