Michele Paton will be the assistant principal at Mountain View Middle School. Superintendent Kym LeBlanc-Esparza made the announcement at the school board meeting on Tuesday night. Paton replaces Don Johnston who has served in the position as an interim this school year.
Paton is an associate principal at Gervais Middle/High School. She also serves as the lead administrator at Samuel Brown Academy, an alternative education program for students in grades 6-12. Paton has 13 years of classroom teaching experience at the middle and high school level. She has worked as a counselor and guidance specialist TOSA (teacher on special assignment.)
Paton was a member of a nationally recognized administrative team at Gervais High School that was designated as a “Breakthrough School” by the National Association of Secondary School Principals in 2013.
Paton received her Masters of Education from George Fox University and her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon. She earned her administrative credentials at George Fox University.
“Michele brings exceptional training, experience and enthusiasm that will be a great asset to MVMS students, staff and parents,” said MVMS Principal Wayne Strong. “Her enthusiasm for our new initiatives, particularly AVID, will be a tremendous value to developing successful 21st Century learners. I am looking forward to having her on the MVMS staff.”
Paton starts July 2015 at the 550-student school.
