Every Friday
Every Friday is going to be blue and green day at Mtn. View unless we have a special day like next Friday, September 25, which will be PJ Day!   Why blue and green day?  These are Mtn. View’s school colors.  Every once in while our school mascot, Wally Wildcat, makes an appearance at special events. We ask that students follow dress code rules not only on blue and green days or special days, but every day   For more information about dress code rules please see the following:

Another event that is taking place every Friday is planner check day.  Seventh period teachers will be checking everyone’s planners to see if they’ve been keeping them up.  One of the ways students earn an orange sticker for this time period is planners.

Enrichment
Enrichment classes began on Wednesday and from what I hear a fun time is being had by all.  Thank you to everyone who has paid the Cooking, Handmade Crafts, Lego Robotics, Smash Book or Woodshop fee.  Wondering if your student owes?  Ask them…they will know.  To learn more about MV’s Enrichment Classes: http://www.newberg.k12.or.us/mountainview/mv-enrichment-classes

Miscellaneous
Monday was the first day of the after school late bus. If your student needs to stay after school and lives within Newberg city limits and not within walking distance, they can catch this bus which leaves at 3:45.  In order to ride the after school bus, student’s need a bus pass which they receive from the first adult they stay with after school.  If students don’t stay with a staff member the entire time, then they report to the library or study hall room #124 and have the bus pass signed there as well.

Students carrying their ID’s with them at all times is to their advantage.  Why?  Depending on which sticker they earn, there are many rewards including the opportunity to be released early to their lockers in the morning and after lunch plus dismissed early from the lunch table.  Info regarding the incentives can be found here: http://www.newberg.k12.or.us/mountainview/super-star-rewards

Spirit wear orders should arrive the first part of October.  Once they are received, we will distribute them to your student.

Student Profile
You may have noticed that at the bottom of the Student Profile there was a place for you to give permission for your student to receive Acetaminophen at the Nurse’s discretion.  This phrase is a preset on the form and unfortunately, due to state law, we are unable to administer any medication to your student that you have not provided.

8th Graders
Eighth graders and parents interested in the East Coast/Washington DC June 2016 trip met on Thursday to find out all about it.  Weren’t able to make the meeting, but interested?  Please contact Heidi King who will lead the group at kingh@newberg.k12.or.us
