3D Printing

Students will sign up for a fourth quarter Enrichment Class on April 1 with classes beginning April 11.

Basic cooking skills/easy snacks (Mrs. Holden)
Learn basic cooking skills to be successful and safe in the kitchen such as knife safety, meal planning, nutrition, and the science of cooking. We will create tasty and healthy snacks that you can make at home as well.  FEE: $10

3D Printing (Mr. Long)
Ever wondered how things were made with a 3D printer?  There are countless hours spent on a computer going over the drafting of a simple image.  We can make cubes, spheres, logos, helicopters, flowers....you name we can make it.  Sign up if you are interested!

Harry Potter - Part 2 (Miss Holman)
Are you a Harry Potter fan? Have you always wanted to read the books or watch the movies?! Well, here’s your chance. Please join me in a reading books 3 & 4. I will read the stories aloud in class and when we finish a book, we will watch the movie. If you have a copy of the book you can bring it to follow along, or follow along on the projector as I will project the pages as I read. Let’s see how far into the world of wizardry we can get in nine weeks!

Wildcat Pride II (Mr. McLay)
This class will focus on generating flyers and signs that the Wildcat Pride I class needs.  Be ready to focus on beautifying the school.

Woodshop (Mr. Rogers)
In this class students will learn how to use tools and build various wood projects.  In the 9 weeks we will build 3-4 different projects.

Puzzles and Board Games (Mrs. Swayne)
Are you so busy you never have time to play Monopoly, Connect Four, Checkers and Chess, Scrabble, Win Lose or Draw, etc.?  When was the last time you put together a puzzle?  Now is your chance to carve out one period a day to have fun playing those games we all love!

Handmade Crafts & Gifts (Mrs. Topf)
Make your own crafts to take home for yourself or to give to others for gifts. Let out your inner crafter or pinterest self! Use your artistic abilities to make your own designs! Make Chubby Bears, one of a kind, professional looking cards, Mothers/Fathers Day crafts, Beautiful hand crafted string art and more! With this class  you have the choice to  choose what to make and who to give your creations to. Let the fun begin!  FEE: $10

Fun with Art & Science (Mrs. Wells)
During the first half of the quarter we will be learning calligraphy.

Then we will be doing a complex engineering design lab where you get to design and build something that is unnecessarily complicated in design or construction.  Have you heard of the Rube Goldberg Lab?  That’s what we’ll be working on.

Outdoor Activities  (Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Hanson)
Students will learn outdoor activities.  Twice a week students will go outside for a sport or a walk. Twice a week students will read or watch videos about the outdoors. The fifth day will include another outdoor activity or a school activity.  Do you know how to fish?  Do you know of a beautiful hike in Oregon?  Do you know where to get information about an outdoor activity?  Sign-up for a fun SPRINGTIME class.

School Newspaper/School Blog (Mrs. Jin)
Be the voice of Mountain View school by helping create a student run publication.  Explore topics that interest you and the rest of the student body and see your work published online and in print through a school blog and newspaper.  Let your voice be heard!  

Comics and Graphic Novel Workshop  (Mr. Allen)
How do writers and artists mix words and pictures to tell stories? We will look at what makes comics a special form of art, what types of comics are common and not common, and how comics are published. We will learn the basics of comic making and create some of our own. Drawing skills are not required, but creativity is a must-have!

Study Hall  (Mrs. Raz)
Do you need time to sit and do your homework?  This class is for students who are wanting time during the day to sit quietly and work on school work.  

Coloring (Mrs. Fredrickson)
This isn’t your average coloring class.  This is the new “in thing”.  In this class students will color or paint on intricate, stylish and hip coloring pages.  

Intramurals- Speedball & Ultimate Frisbee (Mrs. Converse, Mr. Stockner and Mr. Reynolds)
Are you a CHAMPION? Come prove yourself. Intramurals have finally arrived at MVMS. Competitive speedball and ultimate frisbee are your two activities this quarter. Intense, fast paced, and competitive games everyday along with tournaments to determine a CHAMPION for each activity.  Bring your "A GAME"

Mandarin Chinese (Ms. Zheng)
In this class students will learn some basic Chinese words (including food, drinks, sports, and body parts.)  Students will also learn about Chinese culture and some popular Chinese Festivals and do some Chinese art projects.  There may be a field trip also.

Crafts (Ms Buck)
Crafts galore!  Come make arts and crafts for a Wildcat Pride-sponsored spring dance and your own enjoyment. From dance decor to faux stained glass, cards, lip balm, journals, spirals, clay pots and so much more.  FEE: $10

Zentangle  (Ms Foley)
Come learn the relaxing and uplifting method and art form, known as Zentangle. Create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns while you increase focus and sense of personal well being. The Zentangle Method is enjoyed all over this world across a wide range of skills, interests and ages. (When the weather is lovely we will Zentangle outside.)

Smash Book (Miss Mickus)
Get ready to create your own work of art – a Smash Book! Think of it like a scrapbook and a journal "smashed" together. Create pages filled with photos, notes, poems, souvenirs, doodles, stickers, stamps -- anything you can think of that can be "smashed" into a book that's all about YOU!  Techniques include: graffiti, Zentangle, collage, coloring, crafts and lots more.  FEE: $10

Gardening with Gallagher (Mr. Gallagher)
Spring is coming and Gallagher would like to do some work to spruce up the place.  In this class, we'll learn about gardening, plant flowers and plants, and brainstorm different ways to make MVMS look great on the outside.  Spring brings the nice weather and there's no better way to spend 7th period than outside with some friends in the sun. This won't require serious physical labor or experience, just a positive attitude and some responsibility...and maybe some shoes to get a bit dirty.

Stock Market Exchange (Mr. Alpert)
What would you do with $100,000? Would you spend it all on candy and a new car? Or would you save it and make it grow? If you want to learn how put money to work for you, give the Stock Market Game a try. Each group will receive a $100,000 to invest in a virtual online stock market. Buy, sell, and trade in a simulated economy and learn the fundamentals of investing and money management. Developing these skills in middle school can really pay off in the long run!
