We reported earlier that 6th & 7th Graders would be selecting their 2015/16 elective this week.  That has been postponed…we will keep you informed.

8th Graders met with NHS Counselors on Tuesday to begin the high school planning process by teaching them about high school classes, credits they will need for graduation and preparing for upcoming forecasting for next year’s classes.

On March 10, NHS staff is scheduled to join us for a few periods to forecast with the 8th Graders.

Recycling
This is the last week of our recycling competition with winners announced soon.

Recycling facts…
*Americans use 4 million plastic bottles every hour! - Yet only 1 bottle out of 4 is recycled.

*Americans use more than 67 million tons of paper per year, or about 580 pounds per person. Each ton of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4,000 kilowatts of energy and 7,000 gallons of water!

*The energy saved from recycling one glass bottle can run a 100-watt light bulb for four hours. It also causes 20% less air pollution and 50% less water pollution than when a new bottle is made from raw materials.

*A typical family consumes 182 gallons of pop, 29 gallons of juice, 104 gallons of milk, and 26 gallons of bottled water a year. That's a lot of containers – are you making sure they're recycled!
