Laser Tag, Concerts and More
Tuesday evening the NHS Auditorium was alive with music as the Jazz Bands from MV, CV and NHS performed.
We saw matching t-shirts, red lipstick, painted faces, bandanas and more as students headed to play laser tag on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Lots of fun!
On Thursday, a group of 8th graders visited a 1st grade class at Ewing Young Elementary to help these young students with a writing project. For more on this story...http://www.newberg.k12.or.us/ewingyoung/middle-school-students-share-their-skills-elementary-students
MV’s Gym was the site of the Spring String Fling Thursday evening with beginning and advanced string classes from MV and CV.
Friday was hat day for students with any Round 5 sticker.
A reminder went out to students that they are in the midst of earning the Mall Incentive Trip. Students who earn a Sliver Superstar sticker from April 8 through May 29 will be eligible to attend the trip. After boarding the bus at Mtn. View, students will stop and play at Safari Sam before heading to Washington Square. This trip is scheduled for June 9.
Color-A-Thon donations and Steps to Success forms were turned in at lunch time on Thursday. The MV Parent Group has scheduled another turn in date for May 13.

The End of the Year
It’s hard to believe that there are only 28 days left of school! As we are head into June, please have your students make sure they return their Library books and when the time comes, their textbooks. Students who have outstanding fees, such as lost Library books, lost textbooks, instrument rental, Art or Discover Science class fees will have their Yearbooks held until the “bill” is paid.
Speaking of Yearbooks…haven’t purchase one yet? There are 110 Yearbooks remaining. Reserve one today for $20 by purchasing online at MV’s Webstore or in the Office. Yearbooks will be distributed on June 10.
The 8th Grade Celebration will be held on the last day of school, June 11, at 8:15 am. This celebration is approximately an hour long. Eighth graders will gather in their 1st period class, change into their Celebration t-shirt and arrive in the Gym for the event. Approximately 15 minutes after the Celebration, the 8th Graders will board a bus and set out for their 8th Grade Trip to Bullwinkles returning right before school ends at 2:45 pm. Yes, this schedule is a bit different from previous years because June 11 is a full day of school. For more information, please see Mtn. View’s Website story Movin’ On
The 6th and 7th Graders will be having some fun of their own on June 11!
Have old Batteries?
Did you know that 125,000 tons of batteries are thrown away each year in the US? When dumped into landfills, they can leak mercury, lead, cadmium and nickel into the groundwater. When incinerated, these heavy metals—linked to cancers and respiratory illnesses—are released into the air. The Counseling Office is collecting old household batteries until May 8th at which time they will be recycled. Not sure if your battery is dead? The Counseling Office has a battery tester.
