8th Graders
During the 8th Grade Celebration, we use a picture of your 8th Grader. Typically, we use their school portrait, however, if they would prefer to use a more current, updated picture, please email one to Mrs. Merrick at merrickp@newberg.k12.or.us All pictures submitted will be used at the discretion of the administration and no selfies, please.
Do you have an 8th Grader interested in trying out for the NHS Tiger Riot Dance Team? Tryouts are next week, May 18-22, from 3-4:30 pm in the NHS Aux Gym. Flyers are available in the office.
Registration for NHS Fall Sports is taking place now. Fall Sports are: Football, Soccer, Water Polo, Volleyball, and Cross Country. Click on the link below for electronic registration, print forms from the NHS Athletic webpage or forms are also available in the MV Office. This Week
Italian Sodas were available at lunch time on Monday for all Round 5 Orange and Silver Sticker students who had their IDs.
Wednesday was the last Color-A-Thon turn in.
Upcoming Events
The “24” Math Competition for elementary through 6th grade will be held at MV tomorrow,
May 16 from 8:30-noon. It is quite an amazing competition! Students are given cards with four numbers on them and have to figure out how to reach 24 by adding, subtracting, multiplying and/or dividing…all within a certain time limit!
Root beer floats will be the treat on Monday for students with Round 5 purple or silver sticker. Students will need their IDs.
In observance of Memorial Day, there is no school on May 25.

Congratulations to Abby Bingham for winning the “If I were the Mayor” Contest! She will receive an award at a City Council Meeting.

Box Top Contest
The last Box Top contest of the school year will be held next week, May 18-22. Prizes will be awarded to the top three students and their parent. Fill up those baggies, put your student’s name on the baggie and have them drop the baggie off in the container across from the Office.

Did you know that beginning with May 10 through May 19 every date when written numerically is a palindrome? Think about it…5/10/15; 5/12/15; 5/19/15.
