Veteran’s Day is Tuesday, November 11. In honor of this holiday, Newberg School District schools will not be in session on November 11.
MVPG Fall Fundraiser Pickup
The MVPG Fall Fundraising items have arrived! Pick up is scheduled for Monday, November 10, from 2:45 to 5:30pm in the Commons. If your student procured a lot of orders, please plan to pick them up on Monday, arrange a ride, or arrive prior to 5:30 pm so they can have help getting the items home.
Is your student missing any of the following…
The Office seems to be accumulating glasses, cell phones and kindles. If your student has misplaced a pair of glasses, have them check in the Office since we have four pairs. We also have a Kindle and four cell phones.
The Battle Begins
Training for the Battle of the Books began November 5. Interested students met with Mrs. Jin to organize into teams and watch an actual battle.
The Winner is…
Congratulations Box Top Winners! 1ST place winner is Catherine McCarthy who wins $5 of student store cash, 2nd place goes to Nickia McKerrall with $3 of student store cash and 3rd place is Leah Consenz who wins $2 of student store cash. These students stopped by the Office to pick up their prize as well as a prize for their parent.

Reminders and Other Items
Students were reminded of this rule extracted from the MV Parent Student Handbook: “The following items may be brought, but must be put away when entering the building and stored in your locker: Personal Electronics i.e., cell phones, iPods, etc.”
Once a month and a different period each time, Mtn. View students and staff practice leaving the building in case of a fire. Friday, was this month’s practice date.

MV Builder’s Club
Mt. View Middle School will be starting a Builders Club, which is a middle school service club under the direction of the Newberg Kiwanis Club. If your student was in K-Kids at Mabel Rush Elementary, this is the same type of club but for middle school. The high school club is called Key Club. The MVMS Builders Club is open to all 6-8 grade students and will meet in the MVMS Library every other Wednesday morning from 7:45–8:30am starting on
November 19, 2014, through mid-May 2015. The first meeting of 2015 will be on January 14, 2015. The Builders Club will help with service projects around school and in the community. Interested students can check with Miss Bryant in Room 103 for an application. Applications are due back to Miss Bryant by November 14.

NHS Musical
The musical Oklahoma performed by the Newberg High Players opened Thursday night in the NHS Auditorium. The show runs tonight and Saturday as well as November 13-15. Admission for students and seniors is $5 and $10 for adults. Curtain time is 7pm.
Math and Science Help
As a senior project, two NHS seniors are offering 8-12 grade math and science help on Tuesdays from 5-7 pm at the Newberg Public Library.
