Today
Pink Spirit Day, shorter schedule for a Mini incentive, VIP Dance tickets, pink ribbons on sale, end of the Box Top Contest and the Masquerade Boo Ball dance…all happened/happening today!
View pictures of Pink Spirit Day below…loved all the pink going on!
Class periods were shorter today so students who had no MDF’s from October 1-17 could celebrate in the afternoon. Students who did have MDF’s attended a study hall during the 45 minute mini incentive.
The mini incentive began at 2pm with students choosing from the following activities:
*Dodgeball in the gym
*Minute to Win It games and Cell phone area in the Commons.
*Quiet work area In the Library with a possibility of a corner with some stand-up comedy
*Just Dance video game in a classroom.
*A haunted maze in a classroom.
*You tube videos and scary stories in the Lecture Room.
This evening is the MVPG Masquerade Boo Ball from 7-9pm (6:45pm for VIP ticket holders). Admission is $5 and students will show their student ID as well. Concessions will be available. Costumes and masks will be permitted. Students are asked to follow dress code rules and shoes are required. VIP tickets were sold on Thursday and Friday during lunch for $6.
The Box Top contest came to a close today. Winners will be announced shortly. Thank you to everyone who sent Box Tops to Mtn. View.
Art Exhibit
Mtn. View’s Art Classes will be displaying their Day of the Dead skulls at the Chehalem Cultural Center Friday through November 16 for the Latin American Heritage show. There is a reception from 5-7 pm today, October 24.
Lost and Found
The Office has three pairs of glasses that have been turned in as lost over the last several months. If your student is missing a pair, have them stop by the Office.
Medication
By State law students cannot carry any medication with them unless it has been cleared through the Office. The only exception is cough drops. If you would like to check medication into the Office for us to dispense to your student, we will gladly accept the medication.
Unused medications will only be returned to the parent at the end of the school year. Any unclaimed medications will be discarded a week after school is out for the summer.
You may have noticed that at the bottom of the Student Profile there was a place for you to give permission for your student to receive Acetaminophen at the Nurse’s discretion. This phrase is a preset on the form and unfortunately, due to state law, we are unable to administer any medication to your student that you have not provided.
Choir
From what I heard, the Choir did a great job at the concert on Wednesday night at NHS. Congratulations!
After School Late Bus
Due to Conferences on Wednesday, October 29, the After School Late bus will not be running.
Mtn. View’s Conference Schedule
Mtn. View Fall Conferences will be held on the following dates:
*Wednesday, October 29 from 4-8 pm arena style in the MV Gym
*Thursday, October 30 from 11:30 am - 3 pm in Teacher Classrooms
*Thursday, October 30 from 4-8 pm arena style in the MV Gym
What are arena style conferences? All teachers will be set up in the Gym with a few exceptions (a list will be available of these teachers at Conferences). We will have signs with teacher’s names next to the teacher. Chairs will be set up for waiting parents in front of each teacher.
Do I have to sign up for conferences? No, all conferences are on a first come, first served basis and we ask that you limit your time to 10-15 minutes per teacher as other parents are waiting. If you require a longer session, please contact the teacher via email to request a meeting with them.
Do I need to bring my student? That is up to you. What would be good for you to bring is a list of their teachers.
There is no school on Thursday, October 30 and Friday, October 31.
MVMS Fall Book Fair
Wednesday, October 29 and Thursday, October 30
The Mountain View Parent Group is hosting the Fall Book Fair to support the Library. The book fair will be open on Wednesday in the morning, at lunch and after school for students to look and shop. The book fair will also be open during conference times. Scholastic accepts cash, checks and credit cards. If you are interested in the exact times of the book fair and possibly volunteering please read on.
If you like heavy lifting and decorating, then please join Heather Harrison on Wednesday morning, October 29 around 7:15. If you like interacting with the students during meal times, we can use your help with streamlining the checkout process as well. If you are attending conferences and have time to volunteer that would be great too.
On Wednesday, after set up, the book fair will open at 8:15am for students to view and purchase books until 8:35am. It will also be open during the lunch periods from 11:40am to 1:15pm, after school 2:45 - 3:15pm and then during conferences from 4:00 - 8:00pm.
On Thursday the book fair hours will follow conference times. It will be open from 11:30am to 3:00pm and then from 4:00 - 8:00pm.
Anytime you can help that is convenient for you would be helpful and appreciated. No experience is necessary. It’s a fun way to interact with the students and support the library.
Heather plans on attending all of the Book Fair hours. If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please email Heather Harrison at g_harrison@frontier.com Don’t despair if she does not get back to you right away as she is unavailable from 10/21 - 10/28.
Halloween Candy Buyback
The Mtn. View Parent Group is participating in a Halloween Candy Buyback program sponsored by a local Orthodontist. The Parent Group is hoping to meet the Orthodontist’s goal of surrendering 25 pounds or more of candy and receiving $250 plus $1 per pound. If Mtn. View is the school surrendering the most candy, they’d receive $500 plus $1 per pound.
A drop off box will be available in the Office.
Fundraiser proceeds and donations will assist the parent group with funding the incentive programs and other events. Thank you for your help!
