This Week at Mtn. View
Tuesday and Wednesday it was time for 8th grade Language Arts Smarter Balanced testing. Wednesday everyone followed the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th schedule. Math testing will be starting up shortly.
Wednesday we had a nice turn out for Mtn. View’s STEAM Night! Thank you to everyone who came to this event, and to the students and MV staff for putting on this science, technology, engineering, art and math night! Watch MV’s Facebook page for pictures.
Wednesday evening was also NHS Freshman Orientation Night. NHS counselors joined our 8th grade Science classes on Friday to explain forecasting for their 9th grade classes.
Friday was the end of several “events”:
*February 1 through April 8 was the time period for students to earn Round 4 stickers which will be distributed on April 20. Round 4 Super Stars will be heading to Washington Square on April 27. Permission slips will be distributed sometime during the week of April 18.
*March 14 through April 8 were the dates for the current 3 Week Missing Work term. Those students with no more than one missing assignment during this time will get Italian Sodas on April 13.
The Spring Break Read-a-thon results are in, and they are awesome! Over the week long break, students read a total of 27,052 minutes, 28,028 pages and 106 books! Those students who turned in a read-a-thon log were asked to stop in the library for their prizes.
Monday was the first day of MyZone at Newberg Christian Church. Bus 10 from Mtn. View will take students to Newberg Christian Church after school or students can be dropped off at Newberg Christian Church. Students who live in town can ride the late bus Mondays thru Thursdays at 4 pm (this is the same schedule as the MV after school late bus). Students not riding the late bus will need to be picked up at 5. From what I hear there was a great turnout. If you would like more information, please call the Newberg Christian Church office at 503-538-3104 or visit the Newberg Christian Church website.
AVID packets were due this week. Interested current 6th and 7th graders were interviewed late this week with 8th grade interviews next week.
