Pictures, ID’s, student handbook, Enrichment enrollment, bus evacuation drill are just a few of the events that took place during this short, but fast first week of school!
Miscellaneous
During seventh period on Friday, classes were called down to let students enroll in an Enrichment class which are set to begin mid-week. For more information about Mtn. View’s Enrichment Classes see… http://www.newberg.k12.or.us/mountainview/mv-enrichment-classes
If you were not able to attend the 6th Grade BBQ or 7th/8th Grade Ice Cream Social last week and have your child’s Student Profile Form, please update the form and have your student return it to the Office.
The Student Store is slated to open on Monday after school…snacks, pencils and many other items will be for sale.
Students interested in becoming lunch servers spoke to Mrs. Mayes our Cafeteria Manager this week.
We ask that any Mtn. View students who are picking up siblings at Mabel Rush Elementary, remain in the Library until 3 pm.
All Mtn. View exterior doors are locked during the school day to help keep us all safe. Students have been asked not to open any exterior door if someone is trying to enter. Visitors to Mtn. View, we ask that you enter through our Main Entrance by ringing the doorbell to the left of the door.

8th Graders
If your 8th Grader is interested in attending the East Coast/Washington DC trip in June 2016, please attend the informational meeting for parents and 8th Graders on September 17 at 6 pm in the Mountain View Lecture Room.
Picture Day
The second day of school was picture day for Mtn. View Students as they smiled for the camera during their PE class. Student ID’s were distributed on Thursday during lunch. Seventh and 8th Graders who earned a sticker for Round 1 received them with their ID’s. Sixth graders and new to Mtn. View 7th and 8th Graders are in the process of earning Round 1 stickers now until September 25.
When we receive the pictures, they will be distributed and sent home with your student.
If you are interested in retakes or your student started after September 9, retake day is October 23.

MV Parent Group (MVPG)
The first Mtn View Parent Group meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 18, at 1 pm. We hope to see you there.
Bus Notes
First Student requires an “Alternate Destination” form which students receive from the Office. In order to have the bus note ready for students before the end of the school day, students must turn in their notes prior to school starting. The parental note should include:
Your student’s name
Their friend’s name
Their friend’s address
Their friend’s bus number

Absences
If your student will be absent for any reason, please give us a call at 503-554-4500. If you are calling after school office hours (7 am – 4 pm) please leave a voice mail. We encourage you to call prior to 7:30 am. If your student is marked absent during their first period class and we have not heard from you, we will be calling you to make sure your student is safe.
