Salas in top five in Spanish Spelling Bee

Roman Salas 8th grader at MVMS placed 5th in the state for the Spanish Spelling Bee in Forest Grove on Tuesday of this week. One other student represented Newberg from MVMS, Wendy Barcenas in 7th grade. There were only about 30 finalists statewide who were invited to this competition. Districts who wanted to attend were to hold regional competitions and send winners from each grade to the statewide competition. This is the first year Newberg has taken students to the competition.
