Booster Club

Newberg Oregon School District

The Newberg Booster Club is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to actively support and promote the academic, athletic, and extra-curricular activity programs of the Newberg School District.  Through concessions and donations, the Booster Club provides much-needed equipment for boys and girls sports, as well as scholarships. The Booster Club also provides help in score-keeping and various supporting roles during sporting events.

This year we are partnering with Home Town Sports to provide brand new Newberg Spirit Wear!  Check out the link to Home Town Sports, select Newberg High School, enter the password "tigers" and see the great selection that is now available.

Parents are welcome to attend regularly scheduled Booster Club meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at Newberg High School at 7:00 p.m.

Supporting activities and athletics
The Booster Club raised approximately $40,000 last year through various events and fundraisers. It provided funding for:

  • purchase equipment to support athlete safety including a portable defibrillator, TENS unit and concussion monitoring program
  • new digital scoreboard/timing equipment for the pool (swimming and water polo)
  • helped pay for field renovations to the baseball field
  • concussion testing equipment for the athletic programs (baseline testing)
  • nerve stimulation/rehab equipment for the training department
  • video cameras/computers/digital cameras for all programs
  • storage shed for track/field/soccer programs
  • travel and entrance fees for multiple teams for tournaments/camps
  • signage for several campus projects
  • replacement/upgraded equipment for a number of programs

The Booster Club also allocate funds for sports fees each year for kids that cannot afford the costs. Rotary also provides a matching contribution to that cause. The Booster Club typically puts in $1,000 and Rotary matches that). The Booster Club also provide four $1,000 scholarships to graduating senior student athletes. In 2010-11, the club had additional resources and added a fifth $1,000 scholarship.

Field turf project
A percentage of profits from several fund raising events is redirected over to a turf field account, which now stands at almost $90,000. So far the Booster Club has paid for the geotechnical study for the high school football field and track ($2,250). The club also received an in-kind donation of another $7,500 for the survey of the football stadium area from PGE and Jeff Danielson. These reports are needed when the project is bid with the various contractors. The Booster Club provided this to keep the project moving along more efficiently and to avoid untimely delays.
