Cheerleaders are National Champs!

Newberg High School Cheerleaders, lead by coach Lisa Berg, placed first in the small varsity show cheer division of the USA (United Spirit Association) National Championships in Anaheim, California on Sunday. One of Newberg's stunt teams also took the National Championship title for the Advanced Group Stunt competition. 

Newberg claimed its second consecutive OSAA State Cheerleading championship on February 15, and then wrapped up that weekend with the OCCA Oregon Cheer Championship title on February 16.  

The national championship team heads back to Oregon tonight. The team is scheduled to arrive on Southwest Flight 1192 at 10:55 pm on Monday, March 31. Those wishing to meet the team at Portland International Airport can wait outside the TSA security checkpoint for Concourse C.
