Class of 2011 Graduates June 10

The 411-student Class of 2011 will receive diplomas in ceremonies on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Loren Douglas Field at Newberg High School. Five students who maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average while earning an Honors Diploma are class valedictorians.

The Newberg High School valedictorians are Victoria Baker, Anna Jolliff, Taylor Kingman, Mary Koch and Eva Taubel. Zoe Brock, Jordann Brown, Hayley Clarke and Arianna Piscitelli are the class salutatorians, earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average in regular academic classes.

Honors diplomas will be awarded to 36 students who maintained a 3.0 grade point average while taking 28 credits in rigorous academic courses.

Scholarships and honors will be presented to the graduates at the annual Senior Recognition Night on Wednesday, June 8th.

Newberg High School graduation ceremonies will feature guest speaker Reitha Weeks, PhD. a research scientist with the Northwest Association of Biomedical Research and a 1969 graduate of Newberg High School. Student talent includes musical performances by Bekah Baker, Jessica Ice, Reed Allen, and Mark and Tim Almquist. Principals will recognize senior honors and Superintendent Paula Radich will present the Class of 2011. Members of the Newberg School District Board of Directors will present diplomas.

A privately organized Baccalaureate is scheduled on Thursday, June 9th at 7:00 p.m. at Newberg Friends Church, 307 S College, Newberg. Graduation activities include a senior breakfast and a parent-sponsored, all-night drug and alcohol-free Grad Night party at an undisclosed location following graduation ceremonies.
