Class of 2013 graduates June 7th

The Newberg High School Class of 2013 will receive diplomas in ceremonies on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Loren Douglas Field on the NHS campus. Admission is by ticket only.

Twenty students who maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average while earning an honors diploma are class valedictorians. Valedictorians are Chase Atkinson, Marissa Beam, Steven Bell, Sydney Call, Alexis Cartales, Jacob Consenz, Karissa Courtney, Anthony Farr, Andrew Heesacker, Tyler Krupicka, Michalah Leffler, Nychol Lind, Catherine Mays, Aidan Morrell, Mathew Olney, Michael Peterson, Courtney Rosacker, Carley Thomas, Megan Tucker and Alvin Yu.

Abbie Woginrich is the class salutatorian, earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average in regular academic classes.

Ceremonies will feature guest speaker Rachel Yurkovich, an Olympic athlete and 2005 graduate of Newberg High School. Student talent includes a vocal performance by Mikaela Hines and a keyboard performance by Alex Watson playing his original composition, “Homeward Bound.” Green School Principal Karen Pugsley will recognize senior honors and Superintendent Kym LeBlanc-Esparza will present the class of 2013. Members of the Newberg School Board will present diplomas to the approximately 380 graduates.

Graduation activities include a senior breakfast on Thursday, June 6th, and a parent-sponsored, all-night drug and alcohol-free Grad Night Party at an undisclosed location following graduation ceremonies. A Senior Recognition Night on June 5th will celebrate academic achievements and features award and scholarship presentations.

A privately organized Baccalaureate will be held on Tuesday, June 4th at 7pm at Newberg Friends Church.
