Class of 2014 graduates June 6

The Newberg High School Class of 2014 will receive diplomas in ceremonies on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Loran Douglas Field on the NHS campus.

Eight students who have maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average while earning an honors diploma are class valedictorians. Valedictorians are Trevor Danielson, Silver School; Nicole Fawver, Yellow School; Maranda Hamilton, Yellow School; Monica Kelly, Silver School; Katie Reohr, Green School; Marthadina Russell, Silver School; Savannah Stanton, Green School; and Melissa Swanson, Blue School.

Jonathan Bos, Yellow School; Marjorie Halstead, Blue School; and Kahlia Knox, Yellow School, are class salutatorians, earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average in regular academic classes. Cassidy Helikson, a junior in Yellow School, is also a salutorian.

Former Newberg High School counselor, Kay Johnston, is the guest speaker. Small School Principals Dan Malone, Karen Pugsley, Eric Bergmann and Stafford Boyd join the class valedictorians and Associated Student Body officers in addressing the class. Vocal performance will be by Marlee Shroll; Haley Harn will lead the national anthem.

Superintendent Kym LeBlanc-Esparza will present the Class of 2014 and members of the Newberg School Board will present diplomas to the approximately 355 graduates.

Traditional graduation activities include a senior recognition night on Wednesday, June 4th and a senior breakfast prior to graduation practice on Thursday, June 5th .

Catalyst Alternative School graduation ceremonies will take place at the Springbrook Education Center on Thursday, June 5th at 7p.m.

A parent-sponsored all-night drug and alcohol-free Grad Night Party at an un-disclosed location follow the Friday night graduation ceremonies.

A privately organized Baccalaureate will be held at 7 p.m. June 3, 2014 at Newberg Friends Church, 307 S. College in Newberg.
